Bergamo Orio al Serio (BGY) β marketed as Milan Bergamo β is Ryanairβs main Italian base and one of Europeβs busiest low-cost airports. Located approximately 45km northeast of Milan and approximately 4km from Bergamo city centre, it serves a huge range of European destinations. Transfer options cover both destinations efficiently.
To Milan: shuttle bus (most common option)
The most popular way to reach Milan from Bergamo airport is the Autostradale express coach to Milano Centrale station.
- Fare: approximately β¬7β10 per person as of 2026 (cheaper booked online)
- Journey time: approximately 60β75 minutes (traffic dependent)
- Frequency: every 30 minutes during peak hours, less frequent at night
- Buses depart from directly outside the arrivals exit
- Operators include Autostradale, FlixBus, and several smaller companies β compare prices on Rome2Rio or Omio
Buy tickets online in advance for the lowest prices. The bus runs reliably even late at night timed to Ryanair arrivals, but can be delayed in heavy Milan traffic.
To Milan: bus + train combination
For a slightly different route, take the local ATB bus from the airport to Bergamo bus station or railway station, then a regional train to Milano Centrale.
- ATB local bus (line 1): airport to Bergamo Stazione, approximately 15 minutes, approximately β¬2 as of 2026
- Trenitalia regional train: Bergamo to Milano Centrale, approximately 55 minutes, approximately β¬5.50 as of 2026
- Total cost: approximately β¬7.50 per person
- Total journey time: approximately 75β80 minutes including connections
This is competitive on price with the direct shuttle but takes longer and requires more transfers. Useful if you want to spend time in Bergamo city before heading to Milan.
To Bergamo city: local bus or taxi
If your destination is Bergamo itself rather than Milan, options are much simpler:
ATB Bus (line 1): Airport to Bergamo bus station/city centre, approximately 15 minutes, approximately β¬2 as of 2026. The medieval upper city (CittΓ Alta) is a further funicular ride from the lower town.
Taxi: The airport to Bergamo city centre costs approximately β¬15β20 as of 2026, journey approximately 10β15 minutes.
Taxi or private transfer to Milan
A metered taxi from Bergamo airport to Milan city centre costs approximately β¬80β100 as of 2026 β competitive with the shuttle only when split between 3β4 passengers.
Pre-booked private transfers offer fixed prices and often undercut the metered taxi rate for larger groups.
