Catania Fontanarossa Airport (CTA) is one of the closest major airports to any Italian city centre - it sits just 5 km south of Piazza del Duomo. On a clear run, you can be in the heart of Catania within 15 minutes of clearing arrivals. The airport is also the main gateway for visits to Taormina, Syracuse, and Mount Etna, which puts transfer options in high demand throughout summer.

Airport Taxi

Catania uses a fixed-rate white taxi system for airport journeys. Taxis queue in the dedicated rank outside the arrivals exit.

Alibus (Airport Bus)

AMT operates the Alibus service connecting the airport with Catania’s main transport hubs.

Mount Etna tours: Most guided Etna excursions depart from Catania or Taormina. If you plan to head straight to an Etna base camp, confirm with your tour operator whether airport pickup is available.
