Capri is only about 10 square kilometres, so the best tours are about how you spend a short day rather than how far you travel. The headline experiences are the Blue Grotto, the walk to Villa Jovis, the chairlift to Monte Solaro in Anacapri, and a boat loop past the Faraglioni. This page compares the islandโs best tours by type, operator and price, and leaves detailed boat charters to our Capri boat tours guide.
Most visitors arrive by ferry from Naples, Sorrento or Positano, so tours either start on the island at Marina Grande or include the crossing from the mainland. Prices are indicative for 2026. Our Capri island guide explains ferry options and where to stay, and Capri vs Ischia helps if you are still choosing between the two islands.
Blue Grotto Boat and Rowing Tour
Duration: 1-1.5 hours | From: approximately 30 per person
The Grotta Azzurra is a sea cave where sunlight through an underwater opening turns the water bright blue. Visitors transfer from a motorboat to a small rowing boat to enter, and the whole visit often costs about โฌ30 to โฌ35 in total once the boat, rowing and entry are paid. The cave closes when swell is high, so ask whether refunds apply. Late morning to early afternoon has the best light.
Capri Island Boat Tour with Faraglioni
Duration: 1.5-2 hours | From: approximately 25 per person
Group boats leave Marina Grande for a loop around the island, passing the Faraglioni rocks, the Green Grotto and the White Grotto. Group trips cost much less than private gozzos, which cost several hundred euros for two to three hours. Commentary and swim stops vary, so check inclusions. For more depth on boats and charters, see our Capri boat tours page.
Anacapri and Monte Solaro Chairlift
Duration: 3 hours | From: approximately 25 per person
Anacapri is the quieter upper town, reached by bus from Capri town, and the chairlift to Monte Solaro rises to 589m for the islandโs highest viewpoint. A round trip costs about โฌ12 as of 2026. Guided half-days usually add Villa San Michele, the garden home of Swedish doctor Axel Munthe. The chairlift closes in strong wind, so go early.
Villa Jovis and Walking Tour
Duration: 3 hours | From: approximately 35 per person
Villa Jovis is the ruin of the palace of Emperor Tiberius, who ruled the Roman Empire from Capri from AD 27. The walk from Capri town takes about 45 minutes uphill, passing villas and olive terraces. Guides explain the palaceโs layout and the legends around it. Entry is a few euros, and the path is paved but steep.
Capri Day Trip from Naples or Sorrento
Duration: 8-9 hours | From: approximately 85 per person
Day trips bundle the ferry, a guided walk and free time for lunch. Naples departures use the hydrofoil from Molo Beverello, which takes about 50 minutes, while Sorrento is faster at about 25 minutes. This is the easiest way to see the island if you do not want to manage ferry timetables. Add a Blue Grotto ticket separately if it is not included.
Capri Cooking Class and Lemon Tour
Duration: 3-4 hours | From: approximately 90 per person
Local families and small farms run classes in ravioli caprese and torta caprese, using Capri lemons and walnuts. Many add a lemon grove visit and limoncello tasting. Groups are small, around 6 to 10, and classes end with a shared meal. It is a good fit for a rainy day, when boats may not run.
