Tickets for the 2026 edition of Calcio Storico Fiorentino — Florence’s 500-year-old Renaissance combat sport — go on sale today, Thursday 11 June, at 12:00 local time, exclusively via ticketone.it. Based on previous years, expect tickets to sell out within minutes.

What Is Calcio Storico?

Calcio Storico is part football, part wrestling, and part medieval combat. Twenty-seven players per team battle across a sand pitch set up in Florence’s Piazza Santa Croce, wearing Renaissance costume and competing for a leather ball. There are no substitutions, very few rules, and a great deal of physicality. The game is deeply embedded in Florentine identity and is one of the most visceral spectator events in all of Italy.

The city’s four historic neighbourhoods each field a team:

  • Bianchi (Whites) of Santo Spirito
  • Rossi (Reds) of Santa Maria Novella
  • Verdi (Greens) of San Giovanni
  • Azzurri (Blues) of Santa Croce

2026 Match Schedule

Tickets and Prices

Tickets are priced from €29 to €80 depending on seating section. They are sold exclusively through ticketone.it and do not become available at the venue gate. Given how fast they sell — often under 15 minutes — we recommend being ready at the checkout well before noon today.

If you miss today’s sale, authorised resellers occasionally list tickets closer to match dates, but at significantly higher prices.

Planning Your Visit

Piazza Santa Croce is in the heart of Florence’s historic centre. There is no dedicated parking near the piazza; public transport or walking from your accommodation is the practical approach. Arrive early on match days as the piazza fills with spectators well before the procession begins.
